Galen Lloyd Cooley Obituary (1939 - 2015)

Galen L. Cooley,76, of Canaan, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at his home in Canaan, Maine. He was born June 14, 1939 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Roland L. and Melba (Tuttle) Cooley. Galen was educated in Canaan schools. He was employed for Stanley Ames Earth Movers and Ames Home Center in Canaan for 52 years as a gravel truck driver. He Married Sharon Banks in March of 2005 in Newport, Maine. Galen enjoyed going up to camp, smoking cigars, hanging out at the shop and watching old westerns and old war movies. Besides his wife Sharon of Canaan, he leaves his children, Gale-Lynn Ashe and wife Trish of Leominster, MA, Michael Cooley and wife Cheral of Canaan, one step-son Raymond Banks of Skowhegan, a sister, Carole Turner and her husband Richard of Canaan, four grandchildren; Brent, Brian, Derek, Erika, four great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Mason, Mackenzie, Lydia, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father and one daughter Debbie Wright and one grandson Brady. A Graveside service will be held on Friday October 30, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Canaan, Maine with Rev. Mark Tanner Officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
