Elliott D. Wetzler Obituary (1923 - 2017)

Wetzler, Elliott D., 93, of Cornville, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at a local Waterville Healthcare Facility with his step-children near him. Born on April 10, 1923 in Bangor, ME, he was the son of Henry and Ora May (Clark) Wetzler. He was drafted into the US Army in 1943 to serve his country during WWII and received an honorable discharge following his service. He worked at Ferrell Foundry of Cheshire, CT for many years. He and his wife Rita returned to Maine after retiring. He was an avid fisherman and loved wood working. He enjoyed spending time planting and tending his vegetable gardens. He adored his beloved dog Peppy. He leaves behind his loving family, step-daughter, Renee Irene Pryor and her husband Paul of Wolcott, CT, step-son, Ronald Carey and his wife Marion of Stafford Springs, CT, step-son, Eugene Carey and his wife Charlene of Skowhegan, a nephew, Robert Wetzler Jr. and his wife Rita E. of Maine, a sister, Lillian Best and her husband Raymond of Maine, brother-in-law, Donald Massey and his wife Pat of Winslow, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife Rita, 2 step-sons, Arthur Carey Jr. and Steve Carey, sister, Vina Wentworth, brother, Robert Wetzler and his wife Doris, and niece, Lois Wentworth. Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 24th from 9:00AM- 10:00AM at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held following visitation at 11:00AM at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water St., Skowhegan, ME. Burial will be at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, ME on Friday, March 24th at 1:00PM. .
